Personal rhetorical analysis

These are some of the questions that you can have answered during a personal rhetorical analysis.
Most people tend to focus on the content or execution of their work, not the oral delivery. But most people need to be able to communicate efficiently about or in relation to their work. Many people also believe that oratorical gifts are innate and therefore leave public speaking to someone else. By doing so they also leave the right to define what is interesting, important and right – to someone else. But with a thorough analysis of your personal communicative skills, you too can learn the rhetorical art of public speaking.

How do we work?

Before building a house there are a number of matters that first need to be addressed, such as soil conditions, legal aspects, residential rules etc. This also applies, when building rhetorical skills: The training needs to be tailored to your specific needs, as well as your personality and purpose.
This is why we recommend starting rhetorical training with a thorough analysis of your strengths and weaknesses as a speaker – the so-called progymnasmata.

How does it take place?

The progymnasmata consists of a series of communicative exercises in front of a videocamera combined with an personal interview regarding your rhetorical ambitions and challenges. The exercises are designed to test different rhetorical skills – such as presenting a point, telling a story and making complex information easily accessible. Based on the video recordings, we then analyze your personal strengths and weaknesses and present you with a detailed report.

What do you get out of it?

You get a detailed report and analysis of your communicative strengths and weaknesses – along with concrete suggestions for improvement. You get personal insight into how you communicate with and to others, and you will uncover your underlying rhetorical habits and thereby become aware of what you can do differently.
